Where would be a nice relaxing place to bring my family member on a short vacation? - relaxing family vacations

Hello, I have a family who traveled widely. This is the first time in the United States. So I took him to Manhattan and shows around New York. It does not seem too excited or have fun. Do you know a place that you can last for 3 days and 2 nights or 4 days and 3 nights? There must be a famous place or region. Just somewhere where you can relax, perhaps hiking or walking. Walking and looking around places? In the late 30s, perhaps able to help. It will be great if you are in the vicinity of New York. It may be another state. Plans to take the train or coach. Where would you recommend? (I ask this because I have no idea.)
